Four Things to Look Forward to in December
1. In sports: College football’s bowl games kick off December 13th . . . there’s NFL and NHL action all month . . . the MLS Cup Final goes down this Saturday . . . and the third annual NBA Cup tournament runs through December 16th.
2. In theaters: The BIG ones this month are “Avatar: Fire and Ash” opening December 19th. And “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” lands the same day.
Also, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” opens Friday . . . so does the re-release of BOTH “Kill Bill” movies, running 4 hours and 35 minutes (!!!) . . . Timothée Chalamet plays a professional ping-ponger in “Marty Supreme” on the 25th . . . and Jack Black and Paul Rudd star in “Anaconda”, also out Christmas Day.
3. On TV: The Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting is Wednesday on NBC . . . the docuseries “Taylor Swift: The End of an Era” hits Disney+ the 12th . . . “Fallout” Season 2 starts the 17th . . . and the second half of “Stranger Things” Season 5 kicks off Christmas Day. The finale lands the 31st.
4. And finally, the holidays: The big ones are Christmas . . . Hanukkah, starting December 14th . . . and Kwanzaa starts the 26th.
There’s also Giving Tuesday tomorrow . . . National Ice Cream Day on the 13th . . . Answer the Phone Like Buddy the Elf Day on the 18th . . . Ugly Sweater Day on the 20th . . . the first day of winter is December 21st . . . Festivus is the 23rd . . . and the 31st is New Year’s Eve, when we finally say “so long” to 2025.
