Phillies Sign 11-Year-Old Shortstop: Newsweek magazine says the Philadelphia Phillies have signed a contract with an 11 year-old shortstop. Venezuelan David Basabe is getting a $1.8 million signing bonus as well. Basabe is now the youngest player in history to sign an agreement with a Major League team. The deal does not guarantee Basabe will sign with the Phillies
