Junk Food Addiction Now A Mental Disorder: Experts are now classifying junk food addiction as a mental illness known as “Ultra-Processed Food Use Disorder.” Symptoms of the illness include intense cravings, difficulty in decreasing consumption, and withdrawal symptoms such as agitation and irritability. Recent studies have also linked the consumption of heavily processed foods with cognitive decline such as reduced learning ability and memory loss.
