- In March of 1994,
the People’s Republic of China got its first-ever connection to the Internet. - On April 5th, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana took his own life.
- On May 10th, there was a solar eclipse. But before we start any ASTRONOMICAL-O.J. conspiracy theories, this was a partial, annular eclipse.
It did have a similar path, stretching from Mexico up through Ohio. - On May 26th, Michael Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley.
- On June 15th, the “Lion King” hit theaters. (This was THREE DAYS after the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman . . . and two days before the Bronco chase.)
- The Number One songs in the country over this stretch were:
“The Sign” by Ace of Base . . . “Bump n’ Grind” by R. Kelly . . . and “I Swear” by All-4-One. - The top scripted show on TV in the spring was “Home Improvement”, followed by “Seinfeld”, “Roseanne”, “Grace Under Fire”, and “Coach”.
No one had seen “Friends” . . . it was still a few months away from premiering. - The internet got real in 1994, with the founding of both Yahoo and Amazon.com.
And an entrepreneur named Gary Kremen, who founded Match.com,
first registered the domain: Sex.com. - Major League Baseball was headed toward a players’ strike,
which would cancel the World Series. - The biggest sensation for kids was: ” Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”.
