Students at North Carolina State University’s Wilson College of Textiles were stunned when their commencement speaker revealed that their final year of student loans would be paid off in full. The gift is from businessman Anil Kochhar and his wife Marilyn, and it was to honor his late father, who went to NC State and studied textiles. The gift covers senior‑year loans for 176 undergraduate and 26 graduate students. After he announced the gift, Anil got a standing ovation. (Here’s the speech.)
